I wouldn’t read too much into screenshots posted over several years ago. Some models we create are functional, others are props.

These bring back old memories!

They are old though and things have changed a little in that time so I wouldn't put too much weight on them all being in OVERLORD. ;)

I'll say, those are from 2009! You had my hopes up :( If they're just props, they're darned good ones.

What about weapon jams? As an uncommon occurence. Pressing LMB again would result in a quick unjamming animation. Jams could be more or less frequent, depending on the weapon.

Yes, i just can't see myself sitting under the tree and wiping the jam of the gun and bullets while the battle is going on arround me! It will be the huge waste of time!

Yeah, I don't agree with jamming. Like someone said, this is a realism game, not a simulation. Nobody wants to hide during the battle due to jamming or about to shoot someone and you die due to jamming. I would be swearing at the computer, at the game, at the modders, at God, Allah, Buddah, Jebus and at Mt. Olympus. No sir. No jamming.

How realistic is it for a gun to jam mid-fight about 1 hour after you cleaned it for battle?

Depends on the rifle. A jam isn't always because you have a dirty rifle. all it takes is 1 bullet with weak rim or bad powder. Also the extractor spring can break. Resulting for example is a part of the casing of the bullet being stuck in the chamber, or having the bullet stuck in the barrel or making it impossible to extract the bullet after you shoot. First example your weapon needs an armourer to fix. second example you can try to push it back out with a rod and third example you heed to push out each casing with a stick after shooting, or hope that you received a spare spring. but usually you need to take it also to the armoury to fix. It isn't always something you can easily do.
Its also possible that your firing cap ruptures and damages your firing pin.
You could also fouled up the end of the barrel with dirt, shooting can result in quite a bad explosion of your rifle destroying it.
You could have dropped your rifle also in a bad way splitting the wood, shooting then can be very dangerous if your stock breaks causing sharp wood being pushing in your face.

Lots of possibilities really for having trouble with your simple bolt action rifle. No idea how common these are, maybe if you shoot 10 000 times it happens once or twice?

So let's just say frequent gun jams in the battle wouldn't be very realistic, and unless you want to brake realism to make it some sort of immersion/cinematic mechanic you'd just get maybe 2-3 guys getting their gun jammed once during the battle.

Is that accurate?

In that regard I think it would benefit the realism AND gameplay to simply leave jamming aside.

I agree with putting gun jamming aside. Even if it is a thing in real life, it is completely random and unpredictable. In the end it would have the same effect on the user, rage. Even if devs implement it I will not be disappointed, but rather not.

Oh I've been meaning to ask this, will there be TrackIR support?

As a huge flight sim fan that has spent way too much money on peripherals (anyone else play DCS here?) it's something I'd thought of personally, but hadn't really discussed with anyone. If we as a team did decide we liked the idea, I'd certainly be the first person with my hand up asking to implement it :) Would require discussion with Natural Point to licence their SDK however.

TL;DR - As an initial thought I like the idea, although I've not spent much time considering it. Certainly couldn't make any promises to it being supported however. There's lots of other stuff that are much higher priority on my todo list!

(Only my opinion, not the team's)
