• Welcome to the Vanguard Community

These forums date back to the game's origins as the Crysis mod Traction Wars. Over the years the game and internet habits have evolved and discord.gg/vanguardww2 is now the principle home of the community.

The team continue to read and reply to posts here, but we can be contacted more quickly on Discord.

I was actually looking for a newcomer's section. But here we are!

So my name's Josh, I am 20 years old and I am currently a student in Dubai perusing the Bachelors degree for Business administration. I plan on doing my masters later and then getting a job to fund my weapons designing course which I plan on doing. In other words, I aspire to become a weapons designer as wars and the technology that was used has always fascinated me.
I love to research and know more about history, I enjoy drawing and sketching whenever I feel like it and ofc music.

I was actually a part of the Heroes and Generals community and I was highly disappointed that we were being ignored by their devs because their axis faction was in desperate need of fixing. Many 2 year vets left that game and gave up hopes on it. I, finally lost my patience as well.. Somebody there mentioned of traction wars and that's how I got here.. I look forward to getting to know you all and ofc I hope I can be of use and contribute as much as I can to the community.

Regards,
Sydd

Hahaha my apologies, I do tend to get carried away with my introductions. Self obsession and all that ;)

BonesBrigade hahahaha Indeed! I am glad I didn't invest money in it or there would have been something I would have regretted doing. Thankyou for all the warm welcomes! I am glad to be a part of this amazing community! ^^

Thank you all for your warm welcomes! And yes indeed, a note to all devs, you have my utmost respect and gratitude for making this game. The founder himself, along with his entire team of devs are active on their forums and are actually taking suggestions just tells me the amount of care and love you have for this massive project you have here. I have never seen a community where devs are so actively interacting with the community. The moment I saw General_Naga actually posting stuff on the forums, you all won me over. I was even willing to dump money and I realise its completely free to play.

No really, thank you so much devs. Once again, thanks for the warm welcomes all! I greatly appreciate it and I am glad to be a part of this outstanding community!

Haha I have genuine concern for what General Naga is going to to do with himself when this is finished!

I've been looking for this thread. Couldn't find it. Now I have. :D

Hello fellas,

I go by the name 'Timberwolf'. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised the name wasn't taken, as it is a quite popular name on the internet.

What brought me here? A mention on the H&G forum. What made me stay? The ideal of realism.
I'm a long time FH2 player, and as such I like the fact that almost every gun can kill you instantly. While H&G is fun too, it has quite a few flaws.

Dunno what else there is to say really. Maybe something like "I'm a Red Orchestra 2 fan"?
Leave questions if you feel like it. Can't promise I'll be quick to answer though. :)

Cheers.

P.S. My browser refuses to change my avatar? (The submitted picture meets the criteria set by this forum)

Firefox.

Let me try Chrome to see if it persists.

Edit: Chrome is no different.
Let me describe the problem: I browse through the files to select the picture which in the avatar's case is 100x100 and 15.7 KB. (Both within criteria) I then press "Save Changes" and it redirects to this page http://www.tractionwars.com/profile.php?do=updateavatar where it stops and shows me a white page. Reloading does not help.

Hah! Just like everyone else! Welcome to the community mate! Rest assured this will be nothing like H&G. This will be my third realism game after ARMA and PR and I really am looking forward to hopping in one of the panzers which.. will not be made of paper this time around (H&G Reference ;) I know you will love our adorable little community here and I am certainly looking forward to playing alongside you in TW!

I bought ArmA 2 a long time ago for DayZ. Every now and then I play it again, to be reminded why I don't. It's wonky as all hell.
Someone you might know had this to say about the ArmA engine:

All I can say about the engine is that the realism commitment makes it lurchy as fudge, every time you start moving it's like your character has a tumbledryer strapped to the top of his head.

After wearing an M1 helmet a whole day long, I can tell you that wearing a helmet like that indeed feels like you have a tumbledryer strapped to the top of your head.
As for Project Reality, I tried that once, but my experience with PR was even worse than ArmA 2 and I quickly uninstalled it.

Only your third? Never tried FH2?

Agreed on both points. Nope I stay in Dubai, we have less gamers, by that I mean we have a motherload of FIFA players, buttload of CoD players. That's it. A select few play DotA 2 some play LoL a few others, BF series. In other words, I come from a place where there's no real taste for realism After playing a little ARMA I kinda liked the idea of playing more realism but I stuck to skyrim then moved on to witcher series, far cry 3 and 4 I never heard of FH2 and other realism games, I only heard of them on these forums.

If you happen to own BF2, you should at the very least give FH2 a try.
