and it is still in beta.
From the looks it seems a pretty fun casual game. For some quick, run and gun epic action. I just hope it will feature enough content to be worth buying.

That's my concern to be honest. Beta is fun but is it worth the full price?
It's obviously beta so there are going to be issues in the balancing but it's probably not helped by the ranking system being capped out at Level 5... so there's effectively no team balancing going on.
It's also interesting to see that just in the couple of days the beta has been out the weapons people are using has changed. Not 90% of people on Hoth seem to be using those heavy repeating lasers at every range.

That's my issue. The maps are beautiful but how many of them are there? As expected to me it is very much Battlefield but themed, and despite the amazing Star Wars audio I fear it will be severly lacking in content. Until all the DLC of course. Maybe it's worth waiting a year for the ultimate edition or whatever.
Or just go back to Battlefield 1942: Galactic Conquest mod?

The more I've played it the more I like it. Now I've watched Bluedrake's Total Rant on SWBF I tend to agree with him. The gameplay is okay but the atmosphere makes it epic.
What's better is people are now learning to play it - Hoth is now competitive surprisingly. Last few games have been 50:50 Empire/Rebel victory.
Does it even run on Windows 10 and without Gamespy?

Hahaha his rants are amazing! He is usually right though and has a quite a vivid imagination and voice.
Speaking of BD42, he sometimes sets servers for BF42 (now that it is completely free) and plays GC with other players, he has videos of it. No need of GameSpy, and as for W10, I have no idea.

He is in a band! He plays piano and sings. He studied music in university if I remember correctly.
