How are you guys going to approach the environment? When i say environment i should probably clear this up.. I mean buildings debris changing map after shell drops etc

We aren't planning heavy destructible environments so damage and such to buildings is more or less static.

The reason for this is mostly for performance benefits - that's not saying we not adding some dynamic features to our levels but full-scale destructibility isn't on the cards. Not at least for OVERLORD.

That is a shame! i am a big fan of fully destructible environments as it does bring a huge sense of realism to the game!
What sort of features are you bringing to Overlord then?

Talking about Environment, i would totally see inhabitants (If possible) in towns

By that i mean, if there is a town that is disputed between Armies, then there could be Civilians in buildings getting scared like **** with the guns and stuff

I think I can just say you wont see that. It's something for a singleplayer game but we focus on multiplayer. I can see so many problems with civilians, both moral and gameplay wise :p

The problem with fully destructible environments is that its hard to control the flow of the map, i much prefer it when the gameplay is geared towards certain areas. if everything is distructable people tend to carve there own paths and the gameplay can get a bit muddy... just my opinion though

Civilians had cars in France in the 40's, Right ? why could we not use them ? Fleeing nazis at lightning speed with a Volvo (Or whatever the cars were at that time)... I seriously think it would be a great thing to put these into TW

Cars? Why would have soldiers used civilian cars in the heat of battles?
I don't think they even had possibility to drive a civilian car.

Or are you talking about civilians driving cars? I don't think there were much civilians driving with cars in area which was occupied by Germans. That just seems a bit weird to me :)

I must admit I've had a lot of using randomly found bicycles and trucks/cars to reach the frontline. It does however make the whole thing a little bit like something out of Laurel and Hardy. Nothing breaks imersion like watching someone cycle past you as you crawl through a ditch to avoid being spotted ;)

Not a lot of people had money for a car back then. And if they did, I doubt they would have left the key in the ignition. :p

(Just noticed I responded to a post from 5 days ago thinking it is the most recent one, doh!)

And, um, I've been wanting to get a new bike, but that one takes the cake. Can I have it for my birthday?

In the UK during the war there was a lot of emphasis put on ensuring vehicles were immobilised when being left for any period of time (e.g. overnight). They'd take some mystical piece (possibly the magneto?) out so the engine couldn't start even if hot wired.

And, um, I've been wanting to get a new bike, but that one takes the cake. Can I have it for my birthday?

If Canadian gun control is anything like the UK then I think they may get a little upset if that arrived in a crate :p

I just thought of that, at around 2:47AM with some trash metal :p

I would like to see customizable ENB's (That might not be what i mean)
Like, enable the Black&White mode, More colors, Uber-Wellmade Colors, etc.
Might as well just be an idea too :/

Also, i loved the movie Save private Ryan And i also loved the part when they were setting up their defences and there was that Frenchie music (Rien de Rien, i belive it is called) and it just felt deep and Atrocious. W'd be nice to see that too :D

I should say (and I'm sorry to disappoint you), but from a historical accuracy perspective, SPR was a very, very, very badly made and planned movie. :p The combat is unrealistic, the D-Day landings are nothing like the actual Omaha beach landings, the post-production saturation of the colours has made people think US uniforms were khaki/tan, and the depiction of the German troop's appearance and tactical conduct is rather poor. IIRC they even forced the British SS reenactors who were hired for the movie to shave all their hair off in order to appear more "menacing," when actually the german troops tended to grow very long hair:

Unfortunately, the movie set a "standard" for what was expected for modern WW2 films and games, and so the historical inaccuracies tend to flourish.

Urm, VonMudra, that is a good point.
Still, i loved the movie and you won't change it :D

Those sort of mistakes you just listed up before, you're the dude that ill avoid the team to make such historical mistakes ;)

Hi again,

So far, each time a Thread gets activity, it's my fault.... so, whynot again!

I was playing with my Cromwell the other day in World of Tanks And i noticed i'm really really using Hit&Run strategies.
Basically i'm hitting an ennemy, fall back, when he's searching for me i'll pop up behind him, etc...

In general, do you think it will be possible to move fast enough with the Cromwell in-game to be able of such manovevers?*****
that word*
