Worried about the Bren Mk.2 prone animation

Hi...

It just came to me, while viewing the new Luger P08 through the Facebook gallery, that the prone stance of the Bren MK.II gunner is fairly unrealistic, as it is presented now.

If you pay attention, you will notice that the soldier is not using his elbows to support his body and the weapon. He is using his spine, like a super-human, to keep the weapon at the correct angle.

Also, besides using his arms to hold the weapon in place, the Bren MK.II also comes with a resting "one-pod" on bottom part of the buttstock to easy the stress on the soldier's arms.

I know the game is not even in alpha, but I'm really exited for this game I and felt like I needed to point this out before it is too late. The competition between Traction Wars and Festsung Europa will bring only good for us.

Thank you.

Thanks for pointing that out VyMajoris, great to see community members looking at the small details which are the things we like to get right. The image is a render rather than an in-game screenshot so you need not worry.

I remember i youtube user saying that the Bren fire anim was like "jumping" all over the place, i hate to say this but, i would agree.
Is it possible to change the bren fire anim and fire sound more smoothness than looking like it lags.
Everything else looked fantastic!
I know these anims are just alpha, but i want this game to turn into a miracle in the history of gaming. :)

Yeah, things like that will be fixed - as you see more animations you will notice them to be a bit more polished - luckily we (chad) can always revisit and tweak them :)

We had some syncing issues capturing the Bren video, it's not jumpy in game as that video suggests. Sounds have been tweaked too based on feedback; so community members should always be vocal ;)

As noted, it is but a render. There should be no issues with arms floating ingame. As for the other detail, I'm unsure what you are referring to. The Bren MK1 has the butt stock grip on the bottom, and a folding support on the top that rests on the shoulder to hold the gun up and take stress off the arms, not a monopod on the bottom of the stock. I believe you are mixing the two up. Either way, both details were deleted from the MkII version on.

The pose used right now is purely for render purposes. The actual pose from other angles isn't too bad, the concern lies with the ammo pouches - it's going to be something we will struggle with due to the nature of this type of rigging and the limitations we might encounter. The pouches in real life would slip to either side of the Bren gun so he might rest his midriff on the floor ( not the spine) it's difficult to mimic this, in game the pouches would likely clip through the floor (as with any other game) so the footing arms effect shouldn't be an issue. These are rough poses, just for general viewing, we'll be sure to nail the in game stuff.

hope this helped :D

Alright... Good to see you guys are up and listening to the community.
And thanks to VonMudra for lightening up my Bren MK.1/MK.2 switch mistake.

I would probably call myself a firearms expert but..:D

Bren mk I: Early models have a rear grip under stock, late models eventually took them off (in Canada).
Bren mk II: Rear grip taken off completely, folding leaf rear sight, fixed cocking handle (instead of the mk i, which bended a bit)
Bren mk III: Shorter and lighter version
Bren mk IV: ....
Bren L4: Converted .303in British into 7.62mm NATO and also straighter magazine (the L1a1 SLR could also take these mags .

Just a bit of correction there, the cocking handle on the Mk1 wasn't bent, it simply folded forward :p Also, the Mk 1 had the shoulder support brace on top of the stock, which was removed Mk2 on. Some did get a little bend in the metal buttplate to give a bit of shoulder support, but eventually that was discarded.
