Following our last dev blog previewing the ingame HUD we thought we would share something completely different; the British Horsa Glider by [TWDEV] brrr. The Horsa served as the transport for some of the most famous and daring operations on and before D-Day and so it is only natural that it will be making an appearance in Traction Wars.

The Airspeed AS.51 Horsa was one of the finest military gliders to be used during the Second World War. Not only was it of far more sturdy construction than other nation's gliders, it was capable of carrying massive loads. 30 troops could be carried (the American WACO could carry only 13), as well as jeeps, 6lber AT guns, and even light airbourne tanks. After a poor start during Operation Freshman, a disastrous covert attack on a German heavy water plant in Norway, the Horsa soon proved it's worth during the invasion of Sicily, and quickly established itself as the prime attack glider of the British Army. It was Horsa Gliders like this that carried the first troops to set foot on France during Operation Overlord, assaulted Arnhem Bridge during Operation Market Garden, and crossed the Rhine during Operation Varsity.

We have mentioned static creation before in our previous devblogs, which focused largely on structures and vegetation for our maps. We are also working on a large selection of military statics. These objects won't be usable by the player but are there to provide a sense of atmosphere and historical accuracy to the locations. The glider shown will provide one of the spawn points on the map for British paratroopers and will be positioned exactly where it landed on the first night of Operation Overlord.

Damn fine job! As well as just being static, atmospheric objects; I think you could add supply crates for players to stock up on ammo with? Maybe even let the player get a nice look of the interior of this beauty as he searches for ammunition? :p Again; brilliant job! Keep it up!

Even in the static objects, the team takes caution in creating. Like a hobbyist modeler precisely putting together a wooden model ship. If computers were powerful enough, I wouldn't have a doubt that this game would look frighteningly close to the real world.

Great looking glider :) nice to see that the statics department is hard at work. Nothing makes a good WW2 game like a well developed atmosphere.

One more time i have to say amazing work guys!
Also the guys who work on overall game look, I love what you did so far!
I'm color blind, and most of the games on the market makes my eyes bleed, but your choice of colors are very good, I'm so impressed!
Well done, can't wait for more! :)
